Week 1 Wrap + Thanks

11 Oct 2020 by Matt Gleeson

What a great first Friday! A brief note of thanks & heads-up on what’s to come.

It was FANTASTIC to see all our smiling new and returning athletes, plus lots of trialing athletes, come together at Foxy for our special Skills Development & Coaching twilight meet! A HUGE thanks to:

our TERRIFIC COACHES & ASSISTANTS, whose energy was palpable on the night. Their conduct in helping each of our athletes improve and have fun, and ensuring everybody was safe and in the right place was everything we could possibly have hoped for. our WONDERFUL COMMITTEE who collectively made the evening possible from the program planning & set-up through to the super-super-smooth Registration process, plus Uniforms, Canteen, Covid sign-in and more! To ALL PARENTS & GUARDIANS for bringing your athletes along, and supporting them, and for your patience & understanding as we juggled with the new conditions for Week 1. Some comments from the field on the night:

U6G – “I learnt how not to run with dishwasher arms, it was so fun!” U7B – “I can’t wait to sprint all the way down through the white stick!” U7G – “Excuse me, I’ve run so much, I’m a bit hungry. Can I eat my snacks now?” We will hold our 2nd Skills Development & Coaching meet this Friday night, a share a link beforehand via TeamApp (please download per instructions at this link, then search for and add the team “NDLAC”) and email, so please keep an eye out for this. Also don’t forget that:

Uniforms ordered via Sports Magic on or before Wed 14 Oct will be eligible for bulk collection which we will organise free of charge and for uniforms to then be handed out at Foxy. It is still not too late to register. If you are bringing a trial athlete friend along, we suggest they also pre-register for our Friday sessions and come along Saturday 24 Oct. to experience the full program. I thought it important to mention that this was the first night we have run little athletics in the new covid safety era. Given our format we did explicitly seek to limit parents in the field of play however please rest assured you will have many opportunities across the normal Saturday format to be up close to the action- we thank everyone for the adherence to the safety instructions and processes and welcome feedback if there are areas you feel safety can be reviewed and improved- please reach out to me directly at President@ndlac.org.au

Enjoy the weekend all, and see you again at Foxy this Friday!!

Also – pls feel free to share a comment below if someone did something that made your child’s night special….
